Very rare piece Republic of China (1912-1949) Li Yüan-hung
Very rare: "Republic of China" is written in Chinese characters. Li Yuanhong is the only president who held the office twice, from 1916 to 1917 and from 1922 to 1923. This refers to the first period: represented with a cap. The "Republic of China" is the name of the regime that governed China from 1912, after the fall of the imperial regime that had ruled the country since 221 BC. Following the 1911 revolution, it succeeded the Qing dynasty which had ruled the Empire since 1644. This new regime governed mainland China until 1949, when the communist victory at the end of the Chinese Civil War forced the government of the Republic of China to retreat to the island province of Taiwan, where it continues to apply the constitution of 1947. 1 yuan = 1 dollar.
