1 MONACO 2007 VERY RARE without mint marks, only 2,991 minted

The rarest of Monaco’s €1 coins. An oversight occurred during the preparation of the minting dies. The Monnaie de Paris quickly discovered the error and recalled some of the batches that had already been distributed to banks in Monaco. A total of 2,991 coins had already entered circulation; the rest were sent back to Pessac to be destroyed and replaced with 97,709 coins bearing mint marks.
