Bituriges Cubes (bourges Region) Potin With Very Rare Antler
Bituriges cubes (bourges region) gossip with very rare antler antlers !! weight 3,65g diam 18,57 mm. Helmeted head on the left, the separation of the face and the shell marked by a segment with ball-ended ends; a volute as a face. Two extremely stylized horses face to face. On the upper part and deer antlers seen from the front in the lower part. Known for only a few years, this gossip seems to have passed unnoticed since. This gossip is exceptional, known to very few copies and missing all museums. If the right is fairly classic with a helmeted head, with a very stylized face, the reverse is very unusual in Gallic liconography. The upper part is interpreted as two small horses or protomes of horses, face to face. The lower part with the deer antler is more likely, although the deer is well present in Celtic mythology (with cernunnos), it is only rarely represented on the currencies.
