Paris Orient, Lodge of Isis - 1808. Superb token, particularly rare and highly sought after in its silver version, especially in this condition and with its natural patina, meaning it has not been cleaned and has been kept as acquired. This token commemorates the Lodge of Isis, founded in 1808 by architect Antoine Raveau, during the First French Empire. This token also exists in zinc, pewter, brass, and bronze.
Note: This representation of Isis symbolizes “regeneration” and was used on the “Fountain of Regeneration” or “Fountain of Isis,” a monument erected in Paris in 1793 on the site of the demolished Bastille (today Place de la Bastille), on the occasion of a celebration marking the first anniversary of the events of August 10, 1792.
